Neon Genesis Evangelion’s Character Designer Creates “Perfect Reproductions” of Rei & Asuka

Numerous Neon Genesis Evangelion statues, figures and toys have been released over the years that perfectly recreate scenes from the iconic anime. Now, two new figures do the same thing for equally as notable illustrations from the mecha franchise.
Handled by Kadokawa and released internationally by Good Smile Company, these new figures for Rei Ayanami and the feisty Asuka Langley-Soryu look just like the covers of the Evangelion manga. Showcasing them in their plug suits with stunning detail, the new collectibles are some of the most breathtaking Eva toys that money can buy. Now available for pre-order, these eye-catching figures give new life to classic images.
The new Evangelion figures by Kadokawa showcase Asuka and Rei in static poses, although fans will likely recognize the imagery in some way, as they’re based on drawings by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto for the Neon Genesis Evangelion [Collector’s Edition] manga, with EVA unit pilots Rei and Asuka representing the second and third covers, respectively. Rei’s figurine has her coyly brushing her hair with a faint expression, while Asuka is happily running/jumping with one leg lifted. Sculpted by Akimofu, both are 1/7 scale painted plastic, with Asuka being 10.24 inches in height and Rei being 9.84 inches.
