The new “Magic Knight Rayearth” anime will therefore be broadcast as a series on Japanese television over the course of next year. A specific date and who will be involved in the production are still pending.
The original CLAMP manga series was published from November 1993 to February 1995 in “Nakayoshi” magazine in Japan. A sequel entitled “Magic Knight Rayearth II” followed from March 1995 to April 1996.
The work inspired the first anime adaptation over 30 years ago, which was directed by Toshiki Hirano (“Kikou Sennyo Rouran”) at the TMS Entertainment studio and ran on Japanese television from October 1994 to November 1995. A three-part OVA followed in 1997, which was released on DVD by KAZÉ Anime.

The students Hikaru Shi-dou, Umi Ryu-za-ki and Fuu Ho-ou-ji are suddenly called to the magical world of Cephiro while visiting the Tokyo Tower. Princess Emeraude asks them to save her world as Magic Knights – and they are chosen to do just that.
