New feature: Tiktok starts break reminders

Berlin – Tiktok wants to make it easier for users to control how much time they spend on the short video portal. If the control of the daily screen time that is already available in the app is activated, regular breaks can also be programmed after a freely definable number of minutes in the future.

As is already the case when exceeding the daily screen time, you will receive a reminder to take a break if you have watched short videos continuously for too long.

Another announced innovation in the app is the so-called screen time dashboard, a statistics area that provides information about how often you open the app and how long you use it every day and at what times. You can also set a weekly reminder to take a look at the dashboard.

By default, younger people between the ages of 13 and 17 should be reminded once a week to keep an eye on their digital well-being. If someone in this age group has used Tiktok for more than 100 minutes in a day, the next time the app is opened, it will remind them that there are screen time control functions. The new features will be integrated into the app over the coming weeks.
