Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle might be tearing up the charts at the moment with its original story hitting the silver screen, but the anime world is more than willing to pull in money in theaters with compilation movies. Such is the case with Jujutsu Kaisenwhich recently saw success by returning to its second season with Jujutsu Kaisen: Hidden Inventory / Premature Death – The Movie. Returning to its latest anime season, the story of Yuji Itadori is once again focusing on season two for its next movie in Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution. While the upcoming film will explore the Shibuya Incident Arc, the movie is also planning to focus on a surprising update for season three.
The new movie will arrive in North America on December 5th this winter, compiling the events of the Shibuya Incident Arc will also debut the first two episodes of Jujutsu Kaisen’s third season. Here’s how the shonen franchise describes the upcoming film, “JUJUTSU KAISEN: Execution comes to North American theaters nationwide beginning December 5th. For the first time on the big screen, the Shibuya Incident—the greatest battle in JUJUTSU KAISEN to date—will be presented in a special compilation format. Additionally, JUJUTSU KAISEN: Execution presents the debut of the first two episodes of Season 3’s upcoming arc, “Culling Game Part 1” ahead of its January 2026 streaming debut. By connecting the directly linked episodes of the “Shibuya Incident” and “Culling Game,” arcs, the story transforms into a new experience crafted specially for the big screen.”
The Culling Game Arrives
As for the big season three storyline, Jujutsu Kaisen also released a brief description of the arc that will see Yuji testing his strength against Yuta Okkotsu, “In “Culling Game,” Special Grade sorcerer Yuta Okkotsu—the protagonist of JUJUTSU KAISEN 0—finally enters the fray. Appointed by the higher ups of the jujutsu world as Yuji Itadori’s executioner, Yuta must turn his blade on Yuji. The highly anticipated battle between Satoru Gojo’s two beloved students unfolds on the big screen.”
Luckily, even though Jujutsu Kaisen’s manga has ended, this doesn’t mean that the anime is ending any time soon. Most likely, based on the series of events that are coming at Yuji and his comrades, we’ll at least have a fourth season to look forward to. As is the case with the second season, anime-only fans should prepare themselves for some big deaths when the third season officially lands on the small screen in January of next year.
Even with Gege Akutami ending the main manga series last year, the manga artist simply couldn’t stay away from his shonen universe. The sequel series, Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulohas introduced new heroes and villains that exist long after the events of the Shibuya Incident and the Culling Game, and based on its predecessor’s popularity, it’s sure to receive an anime adaptation down the road.
