Just a few days ago, Shinpei Nagai was unveiled as the new director of the third season of “One Punch Man”. The announcement mainly triggered critical reactions on social networks. We summarize.
Inexperienced director
More than six years after the end of the second season of “One Punch Man”, the well -awaited sequel on Japanese television and at Crunchyroll in the Simulcast, a look at the current voices of the fans shows that the time of waiting is probably not yet over.
After serious problems were hinted at during production and those responsible later even subdued the expectations of the sequel, the negative comments on social networks, as director of the third season, also outweighed when Shinpei Nagai announced.
Frequent criticism: So far, Nagai has only directed with “Anime for Adults” and one or the other short anime and no experience when it comes to serial TV productions or even action anime.
Perhaps that is why Nagai also wanted to keep his participation in “One Punch Man” secret as long as possible because he had predicted these reactions-at least his current X-Post gives this impression.
Negative response
In his statement, he introduced himself as a director of the upcoming “One Punch Man” relay and tried to appease the fans right from the start, with a very detailed description of his career and his personal situation-although there was no excitement at the time.
He admitted that the announcement of his position would probably not leave a good impression, since he was still quite unknown and so far has not been able to show any particularly noteworthy work as an animator.
Nevertheless, he assured that the entire production team continues to work with the new episodes with full devotion, and finally asked for it to make his participation public so late.
Even if the reactions overall were mostly negative, there were some voices that Nagai praised as “underestimated director”.
Whether this is the case and the waiting time for a high -quality sequel after the strongly criticized second season will finally end in a few weeks when the first episode appears at Crunchyroll.
