
Nintendo has officially unveiled the lead cast for its live-action adaptation of The Legend of Zeldaalong with a May 7, 2027 premiere date. In a statement shared on social media by Shigeru Miyamoto, the iconic game designer and creator of the Zelda franchise, it was revealed that rising star Bo Bragason will portray Princess Zelda, while Benjamin Evan Ainsworth will take on the role of Link.

The Legend of Zelda film is slated for a May 7, 2027 theatrical release, marking a major step in Nintendo’s recent push into theaters. The movie is being co-produced by Nintendo and Sony Pictures Entertainment, with Maze Runner director Wes Ball helming the project. The script is written by Derek Connolly, known for his work on Jurassic World and Kong: Skull Island.
This live-action adaptation follows the massive success of The Super Mario Bros. Moviewhich grossed over $1 billion worldwide. It also has a sequel in development, which is set to premiere in April 2026.
