A few weeks ago, over 500 significant personalities from Hollywood and the whole world, such as well -known directors and actors, had the opportunity to coordinate the 100 best films of the 21st century. The result has now been published-and there is also an anime film underneath.
Anime-Film in den Top 10
Neither the financially successful blockbuster “Demon Slayer: Mugen Train” nor the emotional fan favorite “Your name” or which recently awarded an Oscar drama “The Young and the Urban” are represented in the prestigious list of the New York Times, but with the latter we get quite close to the matter.
Because the title, which was the only anime made it into the ranking, was also produced by Hayao Miyazaki in the legendary Ghibli film smithy and has already received an Oscar in the “Best Animation Film” category-of course there is talk of the fantasy film “Chihiro’s trip to Magic Land” from 2001.
But even if there are no other anime titles in the list, the Ghibli classic cuts a very good figure and represents the medium properly. “Chihiro’s trip to the Magic Land” (Spirited Away) even made it into the top 10 and is located in an extremely impressive ninth place.
By the way, the top position shows a film from South Korea with »Parasite« (2019). If you are interested in the full ranking, you will find this under this link.
