The mobile phone provider o2 Telefónica and the streaming platform Crunchyroll announced a strategic cooperation today. We summarize.
o2 integrates Crunchyroll
As part of the collaboration, Crunchyroll will be fully integrated into o2 Telefónica’s customer offering to provide o2’s approximately 30 million mobile and broadband customers seamless access to the Crunchyroll library.
From October 15, 2025, o2 customers can subscribe to the video-on-demand service directly via “My o2”, whereby billing is conveniently processed via the mobile phone tariff.
To celebrate the new partnership, there is also a limited-time bundle offer. Anyone who decides on an o2 TV subscription in the next three months will receive three months of the Crunchyroll fan subscription free of charge.
On November 1, 2025, Crunchyroll will also be included in o2’s Priority loyalty program, where members will then have the opportunity to take out a Crunchyroll fan subscription through a time-limited offer.
The campaign is being accompanied by o2 with targeted marketing measures to increase the awareness of o2-TV and Crunchyroll in Germany. Since Germany is one of the most important European markets for Crunchyroll, the collaboration is intended to help bring anime to an even larger audience in this country.
Markus von Böhlen, Director of Devices, Trading & Digital Life at o2 Telefónica, says: »Anime is no longer a niche trend, but rather an integral part of modern pop culture – also in Germany. With Crunchyroll, we provide our customers with the leading streaming service for anime.«
Terry Li, Executive Vice President of Emerging Business at Crunchyroll, added: »Our new relationship with o2 will increase the availability of anime across Germany. By becoming part of the o2 ecosystem, we are making it even easier for fans across the country to enjoy the best anime and discover new series through a reliable, seamless experience.«
