One Piece‘s Elbaf arc has been one of the most informative arcs, which was expected considering it is a major installment in the final saga of the series. However, while the story was diving into the deeper lore of the Giants, it suddenly shifted its focus with the latest flashback and found its way into unveiling the most iconic event: the God Valley Incident.

With One Piece Chapter 1161 finally showing Shakky being secured, it seems this incident is nearing its conclusion. The only major event left is the demise of Rocks D. Xebec. The retcons surrounding the incident have made it very clear how it will end, so here is what we know so far about the event, including how it is set to conclude.

5) Revolutionary Army’s Origins

One of the most surprising developments in the latest chapters has been the involvement of Monkey D. Dragon in this chaotic event. Dragon is one of the most enigmatic characters in One Pieceand fans have always wanted to know the turning point that led him to become the leader of the Revolutionary Army. While Kuma, Ivankov, and Ginny’s roles here had already been solidified, Dragon’s origin also unexpectedly ties into this event.

One Piece Chapter 1159 introduces Dragon as a Marine, and the moment he realizes what the Nobles are up to, he begins atoning for his crimes. Naturally, saving only Shanks is not going to be the extent of his actions here, but this marks the event that propels Dragon to rise against the World Government. But his act of saving Shanks is indeed a major turning point and shapes the coming era of One Piece.

4) Shanks Ends Up With Roger Pirates Thanks to Dragon

As mentioned earlier, Dragon’s main action in this event is rescuing Shanks. Though his intention was to save both twins, Shamrock and Shanks, it is clear that he was too weak at this point and only managed to secure Shanks thanks to luck. As the chaotic event continues, fans will see Dragon deliberately place Shanks into the treasure chest that is later picked up by the Roger Pirates.

Among all the pirates present at this event, the Roger Pirates stand out as the most sensible. Thus, when Dragon is no longer able to protect Shanks himself, his choice will be to entrust him to their care. While Dragon’s involvement may seem minimal, it is crucial as it sets the motion for the future era.

3) God Valley Incident’s Main Cause

The most surprising element of the latest flashback is the true cause of the incident. At first, it wasn’t clear why all the pirates ended up on this island, but with the introduction of Shakky and her capture, it became evident that she was the treasure that drew the most notorious pirates to infiltrate the island.

This stands as one of the biggest retcons in One Pieceand while it may seem amusing that such a massive event was triggered by the capture of a woman and the men pursuing her, it grounds the incident in a realistic way. With Rayleigh rescuing Shakky in One Piece Chapter 1161, it has also cemented them as the most thrilling romantic couple in the series.

2) King Harold’s Involvement Is Imminent

With the latest chapters fully exploring the events of the God Valley Incident, fans may overlook that this flashback has begun to highlight Harold’s story. Thus, King Harold’s involvement in the event is imminent, and fans may see him connected to Rocks D. Xebec’s eventual demise during the chaos.

However, what remains uncertain is how he will be involved. Since this event concludes with the Roger Pirates and Garp taking the credit for Rocks’ death, Harold’s role remains an intriguing mystery. With the conflict between the two and the Rocks’ true reason for being part of this event carrying such emotional weight, it will be fascinating to see how Harold’s actions ultimately shape the outcome.

1) Rocks’ Death

The most renowned outcome of this event, and the reason it ultimately comes to an end, is Rocks’ meeting his demise, which leads to the disbandment of the Rocks Pirates, with Garp and the Roger Pirates receiving the credit. However, what we know so far is that Rocks will not die in a glorious battle against them, but rather while protecting his wife, Eris, and his son, Teach.

This shifts the entire perspective of the event, as for years, ever since it was first revealed, Rocks was portrayed as a villain. The latest reveal, however, makes it clear that Rocks was as much of a true pirate as Roger. His actions have been nothing like a villain’s, but instead those of a pirate who left a significant impact, even challenging the World Government’s schemes. For now, it seems God Valley in One Piece will conclude with Rocks dying as a tragic hero protecting his family, rather than the villain he had been painted as for years.
