Just two weeks after the international theatrical release, the first part of the “Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle” trilogy broke the record as the most successful Japanese film ever. We summarize the details below.
Most successful film from Japan
As reported by Oricon, the film was able to sell more than 67 million cinema cards worldwide by September 22, 2025 and thus record around 82.36 billion yen. The equivalent of the current status corresponds to around 471.92 million euros or $ 554.16 million.
With these figures, “Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle” not only reaches ninth place of the highest sales films of the year-before Hollywood productions such as “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” and “Captain America: Brave New World”-, but also bears the title of the most internationally most internationally successful Japanese film ever.
“Demon Slayer: Mugen Train”, the previous leader, “only” played $ 486 million on the international box office.
In addition to the Japanese market (34.2 billion yen or around $ 230 million), the cinema evaluations in the United States, which previously brought $ 104 million, had a decisive part of the success.
In Germany, too, the film made a strong start and on the first weekend with 552,500 visitors ensured almost seven million euros in sales.
