Phineas And Ferb are back, with creators Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh returning to the series to unleash the Disney animated series’ fifth season earlier this year. As the animators work on the upcoming sixth season, planning to release the next episodes in 2026, we had the opportunity to chat with Marsh and Povenmire at this year’s SCAD Animation Festival. Previously, Ferb and Phineas have met the superheroes of the Marvel Universe and the Jedi of the Star Wars Universe, so we made sure to ask which crossovers the animators might want in the future. You might be surprised at which options Dan and Jeff revealed.
Hilariously, Phineas And Ferb’s creators were more than willing to explore crossing over with other major properties under the Disney umbrella, which might include the Predator species. Jeff “Swampy” Marsh kicked things off by stating, “There are other things that we’d really like Disney to buy! *laughs* We’re trying to encourage that.” Povenmire proceeded to jump into the crossover talk, “Since Disney bought Fox, that has opened up the possibilities and they’ve asked us, is there anything we’d like to use from the library! There’s a lot of really fun stuff to use, like Predator! From Lucasfilm, we actually would really like to go with Indiana Jones. Unfortunately, since we’re so busy with the series right now, we haven’t had the chance to work on any special ideas yet to pitch to Disney. The rights can still be controlled by the original owners, which can make it trickier.”
Marsh added, “People tell us online, ‘you know, you guys should crossover with this!’ but it’s not up to us. This is how it works! We would love to, but it’s not something we ultimately decide. Call the studio if you want it!”
Phineas And Ferb’s Big Comeback
Earlier this year, we chatted with the co-creators about the fifth season of Phineas And Ferb and how the series received the highly anticipated revival that so many fans were clamoring for. Specifically, Swampy stated that Disney was very welcoming when it came to bringing back the summer adventures of the show’s titular characters, “What they said was, ‘Look, we just want more Phineas. We don’t think it’s broken. We don’t think you need to fix it. That being said, you can do whatever you want with it. We trust you to to make this show.’ My goal has always been if people were watching fourth season and they just continued right into fifth season, they wouldn’t notice a bump. You know? They wouldn’t notice anything different about it. It would just feel like, ‘Oh, fresh new episodes!’”
As of the writing of this article, a specific release date has yet to be revealed for the upcoming sixth season outside of its release window of 2026. Considering how beloved the series has become, it would come as no surprise if Ferb and Phineas continued their summer journey into season seven and beyond, but the creators have been tight-lipped on this fact so far.
