While »Re: Zero« in the first business quarter 2025 is the most valuable title of Kadokawa overall, this is only in fifth place in the anime productions. We summarize the details below.

Sobering quarter

In the first quarter of the 2025 financial year (April to June), Kadokawa generated sales of 64.8 billion yen (around 376 million euros). This corresponds to a decline of 1.5 % compared to the same period in the previous year. However, operational profit fell significantly by 61.5 % to 2.3 billion yen (around 13 million euros).

The company also recorded 16.4 % in the anime segment and generated only 6.9 billion yen (around 40 million euros) over the period mentioned. According to the report, this was mainly due to the fact that significantly fewer titles were published in this quarter and this was mostly new series.

The greatest financial success was achieved “The Gorilla God’s Go-to Girl”, followed by “Once Upon a Witch’s Death”, “The Shiunji Family Children” and “Please put them on, TAKAMINE-SAN”. From fifth place, established brands such as “Re: Zero”, “Oshi no Ko”, “Overlord”, “Konosuba” and “The Eminence in Shadow”-although there were no anime broadcasts for this period in question.

This list only takes into account the income from the anime area. If you add other divisions such as publishing and gaming, “Re: Zero” takes first place, closely followed by “The Gorilla God’s Go-to Girl”. Both works each achieved just over 500 million yen (around 2.9 million euros).
