Reincarnated as a Sword Season 2 anime revealed an ‘ultra teaser’ visual, along with the main staff and 2026 release date. The sequel was announced right after the Season 1 finale in December 2022. HIDIVE also confirmed that it will exclusively stream the anime in 2026. John Ledford, President of HIDIVE, commented:
“We’re excited to reveal that Season 2 of the hit isekai Reincarnated as a Sword will return next year and stream exclusively as part of HIDIVE’s Fall 2026 simulcast season line-up. Reincarnated as a Sword was an instant hit with audiences when the original season premiered on HIDIVE in 2022. The series’ popularity and fandom have never waned since then and will undoubtedly grow even further when Season 2 premieres in 2026!”
Yu Tanaka writes the original Reincarnated as a Sword light novel. The novel started off on the Shosetsuka ni Naro website in October 2015 with illustrations by LLO. GC Novels started publishing it in the light novel format in 2016.
A manga adaptation by Tomowo Maruyama is ongoing as well, and there is also a spin-off manga Reincarnated as a Sword: Another Wish by Hinako Inoue, which began in June 2020. Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the light novel, the manga, and the spin-off manga and they describe the story:
When a 30-year-old salaryman and games enthusiast is suddenly killed in a car accident, he finds himself reborn into a fantasy world…but in the form of a sword! Now he’s in search of a beautiful woman to wield him, and a catgirl named Fran might be the exact adventuring partner he needs.
