The author of “Solo Leveling” revealed in a recent interview that he would like to write a sequel to his novel. We summarize.
“‘Ragnarok’ was just fan service”
Until now, »Solo Leveling: Ragnarok« was widely considered to be an official sequel to the extremely popular »Solo Leveling« series, but original author Chugong has now made it clear that this is not the case. Instead, he simply described the work written by author Daul, which ended in July 2025 after 357 chapters, as a “fan service spin-off”:
»›Ragnarok‹ was a spin-off created for the benefit of the fans. I was curious to see how another author would write Solo Leveling. This story is part of the world of Solo Leveling, but is not a direct continuation of the main plot. It’s one of many possible scenarios, similar to the Marvel Multiverse.”
When Solo Leveling: Ragnarok was announced, Chugong said the project gave him similar feelings to the release of the original story. That’s why he decided to support Daul.
In the meantime, however, he is seriously thinking about writing an official sequel to his internationally successful work.
First of all, the “Solo Leveling” franchise will continue in other formats, namely as a live-action adaptation of the third season of the anime adaptation. Unfortunately, it is still pending.
