On the official X account of the anime adaptation of “Ascendance of a Bookworm” (Japanese: “Honzuki no Kokujou”), it was announced today that the sequel will start on Japanese television in spring 2026. We summarize.

The sequel is a new series entitled “Ascendance of a Bookworm: Adopted Daughter of an Archduke” (Japanese: “Honzuki no gekokujo: Shisho Naru Tay Niwa Shudan O Erandeiramasen”), which adapted the third part of the original Light-Novel series by Miya Kazu. There is a first teaser below.
The Japanese studio Wit is responsible for production, in which Yoshiaki Iwasaki (“Chillin ‘in Another World”) direction and Mariko Kunisawa (“Berserk of Glutony”) wrote the script. Aiko Minowa contributes the character design and Michiru (“Given”) composes the music.
The streaming service Crunchyroll offers all three seasons of the first series that were still created in the Ajiado studio, in the original sound with German subtitles on call. A simulcast for the sequel has not yet been confirmed.
