As part of an interview, the English voice actress Abby Trott spoke about her experience with her role as Momo Ayase in “Dan Da Dan” – and how she got it at all. We summarize.

Great passion

At the beginning of the conversation with CBR, Trott revealed that she was a nerd as a child and loved anime and video games about anything. However, she did not know at the time that it could also be earned by it:

“It was not clear to me that you could make a career with it. At first I concentrated on the theater, another passion of mine. I came across the speech industry by chance than I worked in Japan – and then I focused on it. “

For her roles, she was ready to do great effort to find the right voice for a figure – she should feel coherent and credible. At Momo from “Dan da Dan” it was not that difficult: The voice of the figure is close to her own, because that was the most authentic.

Strong character

Initially, the manga series “Dan da Dan” was completely unknown to her, and she had only started to deal with it after she was invited to an audition for the English setting.

There she was supposed to play two specific scenes: a heated argument between Momo and Okarun about the existence of ghosts and aliens, in which Momo reacts annoyed because Okarun makes fun of her, and an emotional scene in which Momo reveals her past and shows a vulnerable side.

Both passages would have impressed them deeply and immediately aroused their enthusiasm for the figure: »These scenes show the two important sides of Momo: their openness and their relationship with Okarun. Her ability to open up and be more tender captured me because the representation looked so natural.

What fascinates me about her is her incredible strength – this mixture of steadfastness and compassion. I admire exactly these properties.

That was also the reason why ›Dan da Dan‹ spoke to me like this: Momo exudes an enormous strength, and I noticed that I wanted to be like you. She doesn’t like anything and stands for herself – that is exactly what inspires me. “

The broadcast of the second season begins on July 3, 2025 on Japanese television. ADN, Crunchyroll and Netflix show the sequel to the Simulcast.
