In recent messages on the fan platform Fromm, Super Junior’s Eunhyuk shared his thoughts on the seniority in Kpop and the preferential treatment senior idols receive during music broadcasts.

Super Junior recently made their comeback with the release of their 12th studio album, “Super Junior25,” in celebration of their 20th anniversary. And when Kpop groups have a comeback, fans often look forward to seeing their idols perform on music shows and participate in dance challenges with other groups.

Eunhyuk expressed his desire to join dance challenges alongside junior idols who are also promoting on music shows. However, since their group is a well-established sunbae in the idol industry, music broadcast companies tend to be more accommodating. They typically allow senior idols to leave right after their recordings.

Translation:
I wanted to shoot challenges with the hoobaes who were at the music show
– But since every music broadcast company gives us preferential treatment since we have seniority
– We can leave work the moment we end shooting
– So we can’t really meet anyone
– We’re just sent home
– But I’m not sure if I should be grateful or find it a shame

He also mentioned that if they stay longer at the music broadcasting stations, it might make junior idols and even staff feel burdened or uncomfortable. As a result, senior idols like him would often finish their work earlier or are sent home sooner. He playfully noted that he is uncertain whether to feel grateful for the sunbae treatment or disappointed because it limits his opportunities to interact with others.

Translation:
– But if we stay in the broadcasting station
– To the hoobaes
– And even to the staff there
– It might be uncomfortable for them
– So I think it’s better we just leave work ㅋㅋㅋ

Many netizens found Eunhyuk’s little rant amusing. For others, it served as a reality check and they said, The kids who were born when SUJU debuted are now 21 y’o… Many also agreed with Eunhyuk, commenting that, It’s true that it might be a bit uncomfortable to have such big seniors stick around.. Some also jokingly compared Super Junior’s years in the industry to corporate job titles, saying, More than half of them are in their 40s, right? In terms of years of experience, they’re at the department head or deputy head level.

Meanwhile, Super Junior’s 12th full-length album, titled “Super Junior25,” was released on July 8. The album name pays tribute to the group’s first full-length album in 2005, “Super Junior05.” The group is widely regarded as one of the pioneering Kpop boy bands of the 2000s and are well-known for hits such as “U” (2006), “Sorry Sorry” (2009), and “Mr. Simple” (2011), among many others.
