There’s still a long way to go before The Apothecary Diaries’ anime sequel is released, but the studio continues to come up with exciting projects to promote it. Right after Season 2’s ending, the anime returned with the second part of its fan-favorite Four Seasons With Maomao and Jinshi project. On the 22nd of each month, the official website shares new visuals of Maomao alongside the series’ beloved characters, each with a seasonal theme. While this project is still ongoing, the website also confirmed a new Halloween Project, revealing only the silhouettes of the characters so far. The anime will unveil new looks at the main cast before October 31st, 2025.
While it’s a given that two of those silhouettes belong to Maomao and Jinshi, fans will have to wait a bit longer to find out the rest. Additionally, a Halloween Mystery Fair for the anime will be held at Animate from November 15th to December 7th, featuring a variety of merchandise items using these new visuals. A similar event was held last year as well, which proved to be a major success, and the anime will once again reveal brand-new looks at the characters. While this Halloween-themed project is an excellent way to keep the intrigue of the show alive, the studio has remained silent on the anime sequel for now.
The Apothecary Diaries’ Anime Sequel Will Finally Move Forward With the Main Duo’s Relationship
The second season wraps up the fourth volume of the novel, and the anime will bring new challenges for Maomao in the upcoming sequel. After the Shi Clan’s rebellion failed, Maomao returned to the Verdigris House as an apothecary, while Jinshi finally took on the duties of the Moon Prince. Both have new things to look forward to, but their relationship only continues to grow stronger. Ever since the second season began, the two have been slowly getting closer, and by the end of the season, Jinshi is much more open about his feelings.
Now that his secret is out, he no longer bothers to hide his desire for her as he once did. Maomao, on the other hand, remains unfazed as usual and continues to care for him in her own way, though it’s still difficult to determine her true feelings. The upcoming sequel will take them to the Northern farming villages, where major trouble is brewing, and Jinshi once again seeks Maomao’s help to investigate the cause.
So far, the studio hasn’t revealed any major details about the sequel. Even the confirmation announcement refers to it simply as an “anime sequel” instead of “Season 3,” making it difficult to determine what format the studio plans to take. Additionally, although the manga has returned after a hiatus, it’s still covering parts from the fourth volume of the novel, when Jinshi takes charge of the royal army to stop the rebellion. Since the latest season of the anime only concluded in July, fans can likely expect new announcements in the coming months.
