A product entry at Amazon recently announced that Leonine Anime will publish the film “The Place Promised in Our Early Day” in a few weeks in a new disc edition. We summarize.
New edition in October 2025
The new edition of “The Place Promised in Our Early Days” will be available as DVD and Blu-ray from October 24, 2025. This includes the film with both German synchronization and in the original sound with subtitles.
The Studio Comix Wave Films was responsible for the production of the 90-minute evening filler, in which Makoto Shinkai (“Your name.”) Took over the position of the director. The Japanese premiere took place on November 20, 2004.
In Germany, the film was first published by Rapid Eye Movies on DVD in August 2007. The first Blu-ray release followed in September 2010 before the license moved to Kazé Anime and 2022 to Leonine Anime in 2017.
So far, the latter publisher has only launched the strip as part of the Makoto Shinkai Collection, which was retired in December 2022.
