The Rising of the Shield Hero has officially wrapped up Season 4 of the anime with its final episode of the Summer, and Season 5 has now been announced with an ominous first look at what’s coming next. With the Fall 2025 anime season fast approaching, the final few shows of the Summer are now releasing their respective final episodes. One of these finales was for The Rising of the Shield Hero, which had been working through the climax of a very intense fourth season of the anime. But it looks like Naofumi Iwatani’s struggles are only just beginning from here.
The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 4 challenged Raphtalia with her biggest opponent yet as she went back to her hometown and found it had been nearly run into the ground thanks to the shady works of the Emperor. But after launching a full on revolution, things have finally been resolved and Naofumi and the others can finally start worrying about fighting the Phoenix with the next wave to come. But with the first look at the newly announced The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 5, things aren’t going well. Check out the first trailer and announcement poster below.
The Rising of the Shield Hero to Return With Season 5
Following the end of the fourth season, The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 5 was officially confirmed to be in the works. But unfortunately there are very few details about what to expect from its release. There is currently no release date or window revealed for the new season as of this time, nor has the creative staff been revealed either. It’s highly likely that the staff and cast from the previous seasons will return for the new episodes, but we won’t know for certain until it’s directly confirmed.
The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 4 Featured Hitoshi to Returning from the anime’s third season to direct for kinema citrus. Keigo Coyonagi Also Returnd for The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 4 to handle the scripts for the series, Franziska van Wulfen, Sana Komatsu and Masahiro Suwa handled the character designs, Takanori Yamamoto served as assistant director, and Kevin Penkin composed the music. So there’s a hope that this fifth season will at least feature some of this returning staff in order to maintain the quality that has been seen with the latest season especially.
What’s Happening in The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 5?
The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 4 was Naofumi and the others needing to deal with a few detours while they are trying to get ready for the wave to come. Naofumi has been especially focused on the Phoenix, and has been hoping to get as many people as ready as possible for the fight as it’s likely going to be their toughest yet. These visuals tease that we’re finally going to see this Phoenix in action and it already seems to be very dangerous.
Whether or not Naofumi is dealing with this Wave is still unclear, but it looks like he’s going to lose someone very close to him before it’s all over. We’re going to be left hanging on that image for a while, so make sure to check out the four seasons of the anime now streaming with Crunchyroll in the meantime.
