Toei animation recently announced the foundation of his new “Eterna” brand, under which new original works are to be produced in the future. We summarize.
New anime brand
The foundation of “Eterna” is founded in response to the international success that the studio could reach with its anime short film “Magic Candies” (Orig.: “Amedama”). The strip has been awarded multiple awards and even made it into the nomination list for the Oscar in the category “Best Animated Short Film”.
The name “Eterna”, derived from the English word “Eternal” (German forever), reflects the intention of producing content that remains important for the audience over a longer period of time. Therefore, the slogan is: “We create free and unforgettable animations that stay in the heart”.
When selecting and implementing its productions, the company is based on the following central values: originality, exclusivity, artistry, quality and responsibility. At the same time, the first project was presented: the short film “Foxing: Kitsuné-Teuki”, in which Takeru Shinozuka will give its directorial debut.
The original film is planned for 2026 and should “In a poetic and visual way, the emotional transformation of the protagonist on her way to personal liberation” show and in the process “Universal topics such as isolation, imagination and confrontation with your own self in today’s society” treat.
Further information is unveiled at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival 2025, which takes place in France from June 8th to June 14th, 2025.
