Everyone is talking about the Netflix phenomenon “KPOP Demon Hunters”-and that should stay that way for years, because the creators obviously have big plans.
Big plans for surprise hit
Just a few days ago, we reported that the streaming service Netflix “KPOP Demon Hunters” has named 132.4 million so far (as of July 27, 2025) the most successful original animated film of all time-and this huge success could have given the title a blooming future.
Because as the Hollywood journal Thewrap would like to have experienced, Netflix would like to go to the full with “KPOP Demon Hunters” and think about two sequels, a live action remake and a stage musical-with the aim of creating a long-lived brand with a broad presence on all channels.
While a live action remake for the VoD provider should be a matter of course-after all, numerous animated formats such as “Avatar: The Lord of the Elements”, “One Piece” and “Cowboy Bebop” have already been implemented as real series-you enter a completely new terrain with a musical adaptation.
In both cases, however, it will not be an easy undertaking to transfer the popular style of the animated film into real life. Nevertheless, the view of seeing the real choreographies for songs such as “What it sounds like”, “Takedown” and “Golden” should reduce all concerns. The latter title even took first place in the Billboard Global 200 with 98.5 million streams last week.
Ideas should also have already been developed for the time between the main projects: a series spin-off and a short film. An official confirmation on the part of Netflix is still pending, but the explanations of the magazine, which is well informed for usual, do not sound unrealistic in the face of success.
