On April 19th, BTS fans began urging YouTube to investigate the inappropriate use of RM‘s Topic channel after it appeared to have been compromised. New posts were made and tagged under the channel that were neither created nor sung by RM.
While RM’s official music is released under the HYBE LABELS YouTube channel, there is also an auto-generated “RM – Topic” channel that automatically posts his officially distributed music.
A “Topic” channel is a YouTube feature created in collaboration with music distributors to host an artist’s official releases. It should only contain music officially attributed to the artist named in the channel.
Fans noticed an issue with an April 16th upload titled “Sweet Dreams,” which was posted on RM’s Topic channel. The caption indicated it was provided to YouTube by “Music Nepal” — a clear discrepancy, as RM’s usual music publisher is BIGHIT MUSIC. The song and its distributor have no known connection to RM.
Hi! @YouTube @TeamYouTube
“RM” YouTube channel is being misused. Unofficial and misleading videos are being uploaded without the artist’s consent.
Please take immediate action to protect the channel. pic.twitter.com/fmZrEe9rOI— Guadalupe Paredez ⁷⁼¹⟭⟬ 𝙱𝚃𝚂 𝚢𝚎𝚊𝚛 (@BK_CR) April 17, 2025
What is this? On YouTube music I got a notification for RM just releasing “Sweet dreams”. @bts_bighit @BTS_twt and another song yesterday called “이제 나만 믿어요“ ( trans “Now trust me “)
This doesn’t sound like Namjoon either 😩🧐 pic.twitter.com/a9GO0CkWfW— ⟭⟬ Peri⁷ 🧈🥞 BTS ARMY⟬⟭ ∞ MOM (@perijayla) April 17, 2025
As of April 19th, the unrelated post is still on RM’s channel, and fans are growing increasingly frustrated, calling for YouTube to take immediate action and restore the integrity of the channel.
