By opening an official website, it was announced today that “Whoever Steals This Book” (Japanese: “Kono Hon Wo Nusumu Mono Wa”) receives an anime adaptation in the form of a film. You can find a first teaser below.
Cinema premiere next year
“Whoever Steals This Book” is produced under the direction of Daiki Fukuoka (“Phantom of the Idol”) in the Kagokan studio. Yasuhiro Nakanishi (»Failure Frame«) wrote the script, while Keiko Kurosawa (»Scum’s Wish«) contributes the character design.
The Japanese cinema premiere is expected to take place in the course of next year. A specific date is still pending.
The original novel of the same name comes from Nowaki Fukamidori and was first brought to Japanese trade by Kadokawa in October 2020. The work was published in February 2025 with English translation.
A manga adaptation by Kakeru Sora was released from December 2021 to March 2023 in the “Young Ace” magazine and in three volumes in Japan.
