Will Smith cooperates with a new studio – and targets anime

Will Smith’s company Westbrook has received a partnership with the newly founded US animation studio Azuki-with the aim of developing and producing new anime content. We summarize.

Partnership for anime

This announcement comes at a time when Hollywood shows a growing interest in the anime medium. This is also intended to build on the new partnership by combining the production capacities of Studio Azuki with the extensive Hollywood network from Westbrook.

According to CEO Ko Yada, Westbrook always wanted to “Tell stories that connect, inspire and cross boundaries”. The cooperation with Studio Azuki is therefore a “Important step in this direction”because their “Insert creative vision and cultural understanding seamlessly into your own global strategy” would.

The Studio Azuki is a joint project by the NFT brand Azuki and the two Japanese companies Comisma and Xenotoon. It pursues the goal of developing and selling original content and anime adaptations-and benefits from the know-how of its partners in the areas of anime, technology and social media.

Comisma operates the manga app “Ganma!” And the Japanese animation studio Qzil.la. Xenotoon, on the other hand, is a decentralized studio with flexible 2D/3D production and a far-reaching network that relies on creative talents and works closely with independent animators.

The newly founded joint venture wants to develop innovative production approaches, bring storytelling to a new level and integrate the fan community more. It is also examined how platforms and blockchain technologies can redesign financing, production and consumption of anime.
