As part of an interview, Ayase, who together with Ikura forms the music duo Yoasobi, spoke that he only got his life under control thanks to vocaloids and especially Hatsune. We summarize below.
Life at the low point
Even if we only found out a few weeks ago that Yoasobi mostly wrote red numbers on a global stage, the music duo is still one of the most successful bands from Japan – also thanks to the growing popularity of anime, in which their songs have already been used several times.
But now Ayase, the creative head of the band, revealed that he had missed this success for a hair, since his life was at a division just a few years before Yoasobi was founded in 2019.
At that time he would have been the lead singer of a hardcore punk band, which would suddenly have dissolved. Despite several part -time jobs, he would have had severe financial problems and would have been turned off electricity, water and gas.
To make matters worse, his girlfriend at the time, with whom he would have been together for over nine years, would have left him.
Rescue by vocaloid
In this hardest time of his life he would have met Hatsune Miku-and through the vocaloid also his current duo partner Ikura:
“The great thing about vocaloid is that you can only compose music with your computer. So when I had no friends, no girlfriend and not even money, I still had my PC. And I thought I could start composing.
I just couldn’t give up the music and when I immersed in the world of Vocaloid, I met a lot of people. I met Ikura, we founded Yoasobi, and that led me where I am today. So you can say that Hatsune Miku really saved my life. She is my heroine. Hatsune Miku and Vocaloid. “
Actually, he would have always wanted to be a singer himself, but thanks to Ikura’s unique voice, he was now able to create the ultimate J-pop.
Finally, Ayase also revealed a small anecdote to her top hit »Idol«. So he would have composed the song before they even received the offer to contribute the opening to “Oshi NO Ko”-because the history of the manga about the hard and dark life in the idol industry fascinated him in this way.
