The animator Kyouko Kotani recently wrote on her X account about how difficult it was to produce high-quality anime series with more than one season today. We summarize.

High demands

The renowned animator can undoubtedly speak from experience, after all, she has been active in the anime industry for over two decades and was involved in countless anime productions during this time.

According to her, however, a lot would have changed, especially in recent years and it would have been extremely complicated to produce high-quality works, especially because fans would expect film quality even with simple TV series.

These high requirements paired with the currently serious lack of animators would make it almost impossible to produce two seasons of a television series in a row today because the anime studios are simply overloaded and there were not enough hands to do everything.

Although it was normal about ten years ago that animators worked around the clock and even on Sundays to comply with the deadlines, the situation would have worsened today. It is therefore not uncommon for the studios to look for support via social networks.
