The former “Dragon Ball” editor Fuyuto Takeda recently spoke that the original anime “Dragon Ball GT” was produced at short notice and out of necessity. We summarize below.
The upcoming end caused panic
Officially, the “GT” is in the title of “Dragon Ball GT” for “Grand Tour” and is intended to express the big space trip of the characters. But in fan circles, the term “Gomen ne, Toriyama-Sensei” (German: “I’m sorry, master Toriyama”) has established, which significantly underlines the unpopularity of the anime.
It is by no means surprising that the original anime became the black sheep of the franchise, because the then “Dragon Ball” editor Fuyuto Takeda reveals that the series had arisen from despair and fear.
From a certain point in time, the last episode of “Dragon Ball Z”, which was broadcast on January 31, 1996, has moved closer. This would have put the future of the franchise before uncertain times – and inevitably gave the nerves of those responsible who did not want to lose their greatest hit.
Emerged from necessity
In the end, the then producer Kenji Shimizu, who is now even President of Fuji TV, would be torn patient thread and he would have publicly demanded that “Dragon Ball” should not end as part of an event.
After a few discussions that were under strong pressure, the idea for the original anime “Dragon Ball GT” would have arisen, whose charisma began on February 7, 1996-just one week after the end of “Dragon Ball Z”.
But one has to give the series a positive aspect, because like Akio Iyoku, the executive producer of the franchise, revealed a few weeks ago that “Dragon Ball GT” had served as an inspiration for “Dragon Ball Daima”, which on the whole has reached the audience quite well.
