INFINITE’s L, who has recently completed group promotions for their 15th-anniversary comeback with “LIKE INFINITE,” was featured in the April edition of the Korean magazine Arena Homme Plus. Here, he showcased his charm as the ‘visual of visuals’ and reflected on his 15 years in Kpop.
L is a member of the second-generation Kpop group INFINITE. Just hearing the group’s name evokes memories of their knife-like dances and impressive discography over the years. In the acting industry, L uses his real name, Kim Myung-soo, and has appeared in several historical and modern dramas.
He began the interview by discussing their world tour, titled “LIMITED EDITION,” which was created to commemorate their 15th anniversary. L mentioned that they prepared special concert stages for songs that fans have been eager to see, including “AIR” and “Prayer (Maetal’s Sorrow),” along with solo performances by the members.
When talking about their recent promotion for “LIKE INFINITE,” L emphasized the group’s goal for this album. He expressed his hope that longtime fans would feel proud, saying, I wanted them to experience the INFINITE style we’ve shown throughout the years when they listen to our songs or watch our performances.
L also reflected on his military enlistment in 2021 and how he thought of INFINITE’s official fandom, INSPIRITS, during that time. He mentioned, I didn’t have any special reasons for applying to the Marines. I just thought, ‘If I’m going to the military, I’ll go to a place where INSPIRITS will be proud of me.’
As a singer, L discussed the typical activities of promoting idols and how he deeply feels the fans’ support, yet he is often concerned for them whenever they meet for scheduled events. I worry when I see fans showing up at the filming set at dawn without having slept. I’m grateful but also worried.
In closing the interview, L spoke about INFINITE’s unique strength and how they have managed to endure for the past 15 years. We have this survival instinct ingrained in us, having debuted in a time of fierce competition. I believe this tension and momentum are common among 2.5-generation idols—’ surviving means being strong.’
I’ll work hard to survive as INFINITE’s L and as actor Kim Myung Soo.
Meanwhile, INFINITE will meet fans for a two-day encore concert to their ‘LIMITED EDITION’ tour, which will take place on April 12-13 at the Inspire Arena in Incheon.
