In an interview, Yoshiyuki Tominino, creator of the “Gundam” universe, harsh criticism of the anime adaptation of “Orb: On the Movements of the Earth” (heretical: deadly knowledge of the movements of the earth). We summarize.

Disappointing adaptation

Just a few days ago, the last episode of “Orb: On the Movements of the Earth” was published at the Streaming Service Netflix and although the 25-part anime, which fully adapted the completed original manga by Uoto, arrived very well with the spectators (Myanimelist score: 8.69 of 10 points), there was also a surprisingly harsh criticism from prominent side.

So the famous director and “Gundam” creator Yoshiyuki Tominino did not hold back with his opinion about the anime in any way and made it clear in a current interview that he did not like the adaptation of Studio Madhouse at all:

“I’ve not seen many anime lately, but there is a title that I have to talk about:› Orb: On the Movements of the Earth ‹. To be honest, I don’t think it is a good anime at all. I was annoyed that the participants had no awareness of their role and cultural importance of the work. “

Innovative original Manga

According to the Tominino, the concept of the original Manga is incredibly innovative and he would never have thought it possible that someone could express such a topic in such a good manner in the form of a manga. Accordingly, it would be disappointed by the anime adaptation that would not do justice to a work of this size.

Although »Orb: On The Movements of the Earth« is the best rated anime of the autumn season 2024 and, too, and in the following winter season 2025 only the second seasons of »Solo Leveling« and »The Apothecary Diaries« had to be beaten, he generated relatively little attention.

For this reason, you will find the official trailer again under these lines and a brief description of the plot. Have you already seen the anime adaptation? Then let us know your opinion in the comments!
