Solo Leveling Fan Spends 70 Hours (& Counting) Building Anime-Accurate ‘System’

In the Solo Leveling franchise, “The System” — the enigmatic all-encompassing program used by main protagonist Jinwoo Sung — is an integral part of what sets the franchise apart from other dark fantasy fare. Now, a dedicated Redditor has taken it upon themselves to create a real-life version that’s as “close to the one from the anime as possible.”
A Redditor named Dangerous-Patient506 began this ambitious fan-project about two months ago, which adapts the System’s interface as a “game-esque Self-Development” program that provides “quests” based on specific daily goals. By using Python programming software and the open-source tool Blender, they recreated each digital interface of the System, including the Status screen, Daily Update/Quest Info, Notification boxes, Inventory and Equipment screens. As shown below, examples of Daily Quests generally include tasks such as push-ups, sit-ups and squats. It can also chart progress for non-fitness-related activities, such as the number of hours slept or the number of book chapters read each day. Because of the program’s depth, Dangerous-Patient506 reports that it took between “60 to 70 hours” to complete, with work still underway.
In addition to being given daily “self-improvement” tasks, users also receive Quest Rewards based on what they manage to complete. Just like Jinwoo Sung, users are awarded points for stats like Strength, Intelligence and Endurance as they progress, as well as gold coins, experience points and new stat-related titles. Daily Quest rewards also change as the user continues to “level up.” Additionally, the Inventory and Equipment screens feature item icons from the show. However, Dangerous-Patient506 states that these specific assets are borrowed from other sources, which will be individually credited once the program is finalized and released.
