A-1 Pictures, the studio behind the hit webtoon-turned-anime series Solo Leveling, is gearing up for the debut of the show’s highly anticipated second season. Recently, a member of the show’s production team teased a round of upcoming updates for what is likely to be one of the most viewed sequels of 2024.
On July 31, Solo Leveling studio producer Atsushi Kaneko, or @kanegone_1006 on X (formerly Twitter), used the platform to inform followers that Solo Leveling‘s Japanese voice cast had officially finished recording for Season 2. “There are so many things I can’t say, but first of all, I’d like to say a big thank-you to all the cast members for their hard work!” they wrote, showcasing a commemorative “potion” received as a gift from production partner Aniplex. Toward the end of their message, they also stated that “Season 2 is progressing at a furious pace,” while urging fans to wait “just a little longer” for additional details.
Adapted from the hit web novel by Chu-Gong, Solo Leveling is a rising star in the world of dark fantasy anime. Set in a world where monsters frequently wreak havoc on humanity, the series follows Jinwoo Sung — a 18-year-old who fights on behalf of a group called the Hunters’ Guild. This group manages the few warriors who have managed to awaken their latent supernatural abilities and fight off the creatures, which originate from dimensional gateways known as Gates. However, a Hunter’s power level is fixed and cannot be raised — at least under normal circumstances. After nearly dying on a mission, Jinwoo Sung activates a mysterious interface called the System that lets him infinitely increase his powers. By following the System’s unique protocols, Jinwoo Sung rapidly changes from “the world’s weakest Hunter” into one of the most powerful fighters the world has ever seen.
