The Sukunella ship, or Cursed Slipper, is a Disney/anime ship between Disney’s Cinderella from Cinderella and Jujutsu Kaisen’s Ryomen Sukuna. The ship originated from a TikTok user named cloudstrifesimp in September 2023 and is part of a JJK x Disney set of crack ships. It has become wildly popular considering their extreme differences, but also their surprising similarities.
Sukunella has inspired countless fanart pieces and fanfiction. It is so popular that it is one of the top search results on the Archive Of Our Own (AO3) fanfiction website for the Cinderella tag. It may not make sense to people who don’t know about it, but Sukuna and the Disney Princess have an unusual chemistry that simply seems to work.
In any fandom, many know that the word ship is short for “relationship”. However, for those who may not know, a crack ship is a ship that is so ridiculous or farfetched that it couldn’t possibly happen. This usually refers to characters who are blatantly ill-suited to one another or characters across properties who would never cross paths. This is how the Jujutsu Kaisen x Disney ships came to be.
