Rising boy band TWS is back with heart-throbbing anthems for youth, full of fresh energy.

TWS held a press conference on Monday in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, to celebrate the release of its third mini album, “Try with Us.” This group’s return comes five months after “Last Bell.”

Jihoon shared his excitement about their comeback, saying, “We’ve prepared a version of TWS that runs freely on stage. We’ll do our best to make sure everyone enjoys watching us.”

The album’s lead track “Countdown!” delivers a message of embracing the heart-racing moments in life without hesitation and charging forward. The track’s addictive hook and energetic guitar riffs, together with its refreshing pop and synth sounds and powerful drums, make for a vibrant mix.

Though the main track “Last Festival” from the group’s previous album, “Last Bell,” showcased a slightly more mature vibe, the members have since returned to their signature youthful brightness. The latest release brings back the cheerful, energetic vibe of the band’s debut track, “Plot Twist,” as well as the title track of its second EP, “If I’m S, Can You Be My N?”

While TWS’ previous songs reflected the lives of teenage students, the new album captures the anticipation and excitement of stepping into adulthood at the age of 20.

“Hanjin and I just turned 20 this year. It feels great to be able to work on an album that’s themed around turning 20,” said Jihoon, adding that “Since our debut, we’ve been exploring the genre of ‘boyhood pop,’ but unlike last year, this time we focused on showing who we are outside of school and highlighting our bold, adventurous spirit. Our unique genre of boyhood pop remains, but it’s evolving.”

Also speaking about the group’s signature genre, Youngjae said that the band’s “style is about capturing ordinary moments that shine in retrospect. Boyhood pop is music that helps you remember those fleeting sparks of youth.”

Leader Shinyu expressed pride in the group’s identity, saying, “TWS is like watercolor. Just one drop seeps in and is absorbed — just like us.”

When asked to describe the album with one keyword, youngest member Kyungmin said, “We’ve tried to showcase a freer energy in our performances, and the album reflects the freedom of young adults stepping into their 20s. So I think the keyword for this album is ‘freedom.’”
