Some anime series had a generous runtime, having plenty of episodes to tell a complete story from beginning to end. When those series ended, fans were satisfied with what they saw and had little more left to see, but other anime series fell short. Many shows, including some of the best and most popular anime, simply ended before fans were ready to say goodbye.
When an anime ends too soon, that may mean one of a few things. In certain cases, an anime goes on hiatus and never returns, or it makes up a new ending that concludes the story before the original anime did. In other cases, an anime series did tell a complete story, but left too many ideas on the table while leaving fans wanting a lot more. In any of these cases, anime fans may agree that ten particular series ended much too soon, and fans would give anything to either get a new season of those shows or see a lengthier, more substantial reboot arrive.
There are actually quite a few anime series out there that have ample material from the source manga or light novel for more seasons, but simply don’t get more seasons for many years. It’s normal for an anime to wait a year or two while the ongoing manga produces more content, but if 5+ years pass, then the odds are looking slim that the anime will return.
