Dragon Ball Unearths 30-Year-Old Toriyama Art of Earth’s Strongest Fighters

Akira Toriyama’s popular Dragon Ball franchise has unearthed a decades-old color illustration, giving fans a blast into the past of the Earth’s strongest fighters. Dubbed the “Z-Fighters/Z-Warriors,” the group has gone through numerous iterations, with the resurfaced art showcasing the team during the popular “Android Saga.”
This week, the official Dragon Ball English website resurfaced a nearly 34-year-old color artwork by famed creator Akira Toriyama, featuring the Z-Fighters in an imposing illustration. First released for 1991’s Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 52, the poster features Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, Trunks, Krillin and Gohan, as well as Yamcha and Tien Shinhan. The illustration was officially described: “Released on December 3rd, 1991. You can just feel the tension radiating off of this poster that depicts the Z Warriors gathered together as they prepare to face off against the android threat. At Jump Museum, an event held in the winter of 1990, all eyes were on a special exhibit featuring the making of this poster.”
