The mecha from the Neon Genesis Evangelion franchise are some of the most iconic robot designs in all of anime. Now, a new action figure is combining one of these mechs with the samurai aesthetic of another franchise’s artist.
The new “Multipurpose Humanoid Battle Weapon Musha Unit-01” is a musha-themed version of the EVA Unit-01. Set to be part of the Riobot line by Sentinel, the toy for the recently revealed design has been worked on by an iconic anime creator. With pre-orders now open, fans can soon get their hands on the cruel angel’s ronin.
The design for the Musha Unit-01 figure was developed by Takashi Okazaki, the manga artist known for Afro Samurai. Fittingly, the collectible depicts the Evangelion mecha piloted by Shinji Ikari in the Neon Genesis Evangelion anime in the garb of a samurai. It’s the latest in the Riobot line of collectibles, which tend to depict mecha from the franchises seen in the Super Robot Wars video games. This particular figure is approximately 22.5 cm tall and is scheduled for release in February 2025.
