Akio Iyoku, the executive producer of “Dragon Ball Daima”, recently made it clear in an interview that the “Dragon Ball” franchise with its new series is no longer just aimed at a young target group. We summarize.

Not just for young fans

As a Shonen title, “Dragon Ball” already specifies a demography, which means that the work should basically address a young, male audience. However, this is only a categorization and not an obligation or restriction.

As a rule, those responsible themselves do not care very much and want to achieve as many people as possible, which Akio Iyoku also emphasized:

»We looked at trends and strategies, but we did not aim at a very specific audience, because then› Dragon Ball Daima ‹would perhaps feel forced. We didn’t think about doing something for children, but wanted many people to see the series. «

Iyoku added that of course, care was taken to ensure that the new anime was also entertaining and harmless for younger spectators.

The 20-part original series “Dragon Ball Daima” ran on Japanese television from October 2024 to February 2025. ADN, Crunchyroll and Netflix have them in the original sound with German subtitles.
