Transformers’ Newest Collaboration Sees Two Iconic Generation 1 Autobots Turn Into Trading Cards

The Transformers franchise has had some strange collaborations over the years, including unexpected crossovers that were much more than meets the eye. Now, the Takara and Hasbro brand is teaming back up with an anime and trading card franchise that it united with last year.
Revealed on social media by Takara Tomy and detailed on TFW2005, the new Transformers x Duel Masters collaboration is actually the second of its kind. Featuring cards based on Generation 1 versions of two iconic Autobots, the cards tie into both franchises well. The collaboration is also happening as both properties are celebrating major milestones in 2024.
The two new Transformers x Duel Masters cards feature the classic G1 versions of Optimus Prime and Bumblebee. In the case of both, the images on the cards seem to be derived from the Transformers: Missing Link figures. These toys are meant to update their classic G1 figures with modern articulation, although in the case of Bumblebee’s card, his color scheme is now a shiny, sparkling gold (somewhat evoking Goldbug). Bumblebee is able to summon “Commander Optimus Prime,” who is shown in both his robot and semi-truck alternate mode, although the former has more attack/power points.
