The Transformers franchise is celebrating its 40th anniversary in a major way, with several new figures recoloring existing toys in nostalgic color schemes. Referencing other characters from throughout the brand’s history, one of these toys represents one of Starscream’s biggest glow-ups.
Via Hakabanogarou, The Transformers: Legacy “Super Starscream” repaints the previous figure from the line, showcasing the character’s incarnation from the Transformers: Armada anime series. Depicting his final form, the figure theoretically constitutes two characters in one. This is along with other figures based on robots in disguise from the series’ history, such as a dark version of Optimus Prime.
Revealed at the Transformers 40 Anniversary Exhibition, an upcoming batch of new figures are now headed fans’ way through Takara Tomy, which handles the brand in Japan. These include C-01S Missing Link Sentinel Prime, TL-EX Super Starscream, Nemesis Prime 40th Anniversary Ver. and the TC-01 Throne Collection. These are repaints of the Missing Link Optimus Prime, Transformers: Legacy Armada Universe Starscream, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts Optimus Prime and the throne packaged with Transformers Studio Series 1986 Coronation Starscream. Of these figures, the one character actually seen in a Transformers anime was Super Starscream.
