Among the many powerful and horrifying items in the Jujutsu Kaisen series, the special grade cursed object known as the Prison Realm is in a league of its own. Now, this all-powerful cube has been recreated in real life thanks to a talented anime fan.
A highly skilled 3D artist and engineer known as “derailed.3d” on Instagram is sharing work on his real-life interpretation of the infamous prison cube from Jujutsu Kaisen. The Prison Realm is the cursed object used to trap Satoru Gojo during the franchise’s “Shibuya Incident” storyline. This high-level cursed item traps the victim inside, and the only way of escape is being freed from the outside or dying. However, anyone trapped by the Prison Realm will not age or starve, as time within the cursed object differs from the outside world. To escape through death in the Prison Realm therefore means taking one’s own life.
In addition to his Instagram account, derailed.3d is sharing progress on the real-life version of the Prison Realm on Reddit. The work-in-progress shows the gray-colored sides of the cube with fully-operated animatronic eyeballs. Although the eyes are incapable of blinking, derailed.3d says he’s planning to make them blink for a future project and this small-scale project is just a stepping stone. Despite being pitched as a small side project, the Prison Realm project requires large amounts of coding for the eyes to move independently as though they are alive.
