Studio Ghibli’s Stunning Zippo Collection Returns With New Designs for Totoro, Nausicaa & More

Donguri Sora, the official online store for Studio Ghibli merchandise, has become especially well-known for stocking products that can appeal to mainstream Ghibli anime fans as well as more niche collectors. Now, the shop has restocked some extremely popular items relating to several of its biggest franchises that are recommended as specialty gifts or unique home displays, although they also serve a very practical purpose.
Studio Ghibli’s refreshed Zippo collection sees the reintroduction of a few of its biggest anime hits to the range, including family-friendly favorites like My Neighbor Totoro and Kiki’s Delivery Service as well as cult classics like Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind and Porco Rosso. Seen below, the Zippo’s are described as featuring a slightly dulled antique finish that will only grow more appealing with use, combining both luxury collector’s item with everyday practicality.
All priced between 10,450 and 18,700 yen (~US$71 and $128), most of the renewed Zippo lighters come in a burnished gold coloring, although Nausicaa notably features one available in silver with blue Swarovski crystals, representing the gentle eyes of the creatures called Ohmu from the film (its counterpart comes in gold with red Swarovski crystals, which the Ohmu have when attacking). Another outlier is one of the restocked Spirited Away Zippos, which comes in a sleek matte black with raised metal parts to create a three-dimensional effect.
